Canada, eh.
So here I am waiting on the mail for a Leica IIIa, a Canon IVSB, a 50mm Elmar, and a 50mm Nikkor lens.

The cameras and lenses I already have are arguably more competent than the gear i'm waiting for, yet for some reason, my fixation on what's to come is getting in the way of me using what I already have to make pictures during time that I have off. Why is that?

Happens to me too. I think it's the fun and anticipation of running film through new (to you) equipment or body/lens combinations to see what you get.

I have the same problem, I bought a Nikkor 80-200/4 zoom, not that I need it. My other gear seems useless at this moment, I oughta give it all away 🙂.

I feel your pain (BG). I too am waiting for a few( three)no, 4 items. None of the items I'm waiting for preclude my use of other gear either.

BUT I WANT IT.AND I WANT IT NOW!.

Whew..I feel a little better.

How do I afford all this stuff? Well gather around guys, here comes a pearl of advice: buy all the camera gear you can before you get married (or between marriages.) Once married you have to have a small photo business on the side because primary income needs to be spent on mortage, car payments, groceries, children's needs, etc. Look for good deals and buy wisely. After 30 years of this accummulating, you can sell off or trade gear you no longer want/need to get stuff that you do. Look for good deals. Mainly this is how I can afford all this stuff.

Frank: It's called attachment. Become a Buddhist and learn to detach. Then you will be happy to use what you have while the new stuff wings its way to you. OMmmmmmmmmmmm. Oops, I'm not saying buy OM gear... 😉

See, that's exactly my experience. But now it's too late. And I'm not planning on letting this fine wife and kid go, so unless I win the jackpot I'll be stuck with what I have. 🙁 😀
