This is from a new project I am working on- Riding the Rails
It is being shot mostly with a Ricoh GRDII and I sometimes use a Lumix L1. I used the GRD for this particular shot.

There's a lot to like in this picture. The weird details (bag of toilet paper, light that looks like a surveillance camera at the edge of the frame) really add to it.

Great Shot! I like the composition alot. Og on the side gives the photo a sense of intrigue.

Thanks for the comments. I don't come across too many old cowboys like this riding the commuter trains in downtown Dallas.
Throw in the bag of toilet paper and the young guy on the right and it made for an odd shot, didn't it?
Thanks once again.

I find the toilet paper doubly funny because it kinda looks like the cowboy on the right is getting ready to relieve himself.

Nice, and I never realize that you're from Dallas.

Nice touch, nice framing. The West End attracts a variety of folks, some not a clean or tame as these two. I get a little nervous shooting down there.

I thought that too, but it's still a good shot. I'd like to see more of this project as it develops.

I have an external viewfinder on the GRD and when I looked through it, I thought the same thing about the cowboy on the right- it looked like he was going to whip it out and start peeing any moment. When I walked around to the other side, I could see that he was trying to zip up his jacket.

It has turned into a really fun and unusual project. Thanks for the interest, Al.

Naw, my friend, you should not worry. I shoot in downtown Dallas all the time and almost never have a problem. It is simply a matter of being super aware of your surroundings and acting in a very non-threatening, but still confident, manner.
Thanks for the comments.

BTW, did you hear about the Obama/Biden Whistlestop Tour occurring this weekend? They are traveling from Philly to DC, with events planned for Wilmington and Baltimore.
There are a few decent spots around here where one could catch the train going by. I'd bet the police will be out in force at most of the good spots though. Not to mention secret service and who knows who else.
Although I don't usually to rain things in winter, it has been a while since any president (or even a candidate) did anything like this...

Nice shots. I saw some similar stuff tonight that a friend shot at the NRHS convention in Fort Worth last summer. I like the B&W shots in your gallery look better than the color shots he showed us though.
Thanks for the link.

Yep, Al I wish I was there for this. When was the last time this happened? Does anyone know?
