This seems to be a common experience among us. I'm waiting for a Bessa R and in a separate package, a 50mm Summicron. Any day now. Anticipa-a-tion! Makin' me cra-a-azy.

Sheesh, I haven't received your Canonet yet, Frank... And the filters/hoods from Joe, and the hoods/Series V filters from Mike Elek from another forum, and... - well, I guess that's it...
Oh, no - and there's also the M grip from photo.net - I sent the money about a week ago, so it should be on its way soon...
Waiting, waiting....
Well, as they say, all good things to those who wait

My waiting ended yesterday. A nice new Minolta Dual IV scanner arrived!

Good for you. I'm heavily tempted to get such a machine.

Right now it seems to be at a good price point here in the U.S., Pherdinand. You can get them for around $250 shipped free. I saw one priced at $239!Originally posted by Pherdinand Good for you. I'm heavily tempted to get such a machine.
This scanner provides more resolution than I actually need since I won't be printing from the files. But it has gotten so many good reviews both here and elsewhere that I thought it was time to buy.

Hell, it costs almost double here, Peter! Eur 339 is tle lowest price i can find in the Netherlands...
Does your postman look strangely at you like mine does to me?
I actually am more anxious waiting for an email from Steve Gandy telling me my R3a is on the way. Then I will be waiting for the mailman!

Or maybe you know someone who's visiting here? The box is actually quite small...

Oh yeah. I'm rarely at home when he arrives, so he just leaves a notice and I do an evening pickup at the neighbourhood post office. But a couple of weeks ago I happened to still be here (I work partly from home). The shock on his face was obvious when I opened the door. He just asked what the hell all these packages from all over the world were; Russia, Ukraine, US, etc. He especially likes the brown paper'n twine jobs from the FSU. Says it makes him feel all nostalgic. He also said the twine wreaks havoc on the auto-sorting machinery, with a hint of a smile. I gather that there's little love lost between the carriers and the inside workers

My postman's name is Jeff and there is a Zorki 3M on its way from Siberia. It's still about 3 weeks away.

Would you measure the box for me, Peter? Without the shipping package box...jst the original box of the scanner. Might have a colleague going to the States for a conference, but i don't want to overload the guy...

Re: waiting on the mail
An interesting thing happened yesterday. I've been waiting for a Moskva-4 that was air mailed on 14 November and when I saw the postwoman put my mail in the box and drive on, I was disappointed..... again! When I got to the mail box I found a "final notice" to pick up a package at the post office and I recognized the name of the sender as the gentleman from Russia. Final notice? What happened to first notice?
The lady at the post office told me that she had found my package and one other in the back and neither appeared to have been sent out for delivery. So, she put a final notice in the mail. She couldn't tell me how long the package had been there.
I now have my Moskva-4 and it's a beauty, complete with the 6x6 mask. Everything seems to work just fine.
Over the next week I hope to get a few more items so my waiting isn't over.
BTW Frank....... Carol King is one of the very best Canadian exports of all time. Her album "Tapestry" is one of my all-time top five.

Joe, it was always my understanding that she was Canadian but guess I've been mistaken all these years. Neil Sedeka, also from Brooklyn, was madly in love with her at one time and wrote the song "Oh Carol" about her. I should have made the connection I guess.
She's still one of the top female performers of pop music in my lifetime. Almost as good as Brenda Lee or Patsy Cline.

I once had a friend from Queens who may still be there. His name was Brucatto and we were stationed in the AF together in 1966 - 1968.
Dion & The Belmonts were always among my favorites.
At night we always listened to the Dick Biandi Show on WKBW, Buffalo, NY. That's in the Western part of the state I know but then we were in Maryland.
