Walgreens Processing

Funny you should ask.

Much as there are threads here complaining about the "pick and choose" services of Walgreen's - the truth is that they may be one of the most important remaining venues for drop-off film developing.

I'm surprised, since you are in NYC, that you are asking this - since Manhattan, at least, seems to be devoid of WGs. But besides NYC and upstate, my wife and I have a home in Tucson, AZ.

There they joke that there are more WG's then you could care to find. But, truth be told, they are a real "convenience" (yes, pun intended) store for film developing.

Hey, if you want super-quality developing and have labs readily available, by all means, do so. But, to be honest. there are plenty of times when I wish there were WGs here in Manhattan, as opposed to the little storefront places that I wind up having to use.

Don't let the "gripes" about DO vs. DO/CD deter you from using WG.

Oh, and I hear they have great deals on film too! 🙂

I've never tried B&W processing in Tucson (which is where I have used WGs) just in NYC at the "little guys".

Those folks send out Tri-X but will process the C-41 B&W print stuff on premises.

Not sure about how WG handles that - others here should know. I would hazard to guess that they will do the C-41 stuff on-site.

You might also check their website to see if it describes their photo services.

I'm going to do that too - since I'm about to bring out a bunch of Tri-X to our house in Tucson and do not want to bring back exposed film on a plane.

Wow, Walgreens seems to be a hot topic lately. 🙂

I haven't seen a Walgreens anywhere that can process (in store) anything other than plain vanilla C41 color. They may be able to send it out. Lately I've found the Walgreens I've used to be fairly consistent in giving good negatives and good scans on CD. The scans I would call medium-res, a little over a megabyte per frame.
