Here are some photos I made in Chicago last week. There is nothing extraordinary involved. Leica MP - Summicron 50, tri-x primarily @400, a few @1600. Most D76 1:1, some Rodinal.

Thanks guys! Really TSK? I'm jealous. How great it would be to have such a photogenic surrounding all the time! Thats really cool how you can identify your neighborhood by the train stop alone.

Hehe, the "California" sign is quite evident in the pic
The Sears tower is visible from the rear of my home on a clear day.
It took me 10 years to notice it through the trees.
Too bad you didn't roam the neighborhood (did you?)
It's much prettier at street level. Looks like you enjoyed your visit.

Ah yes, I missed that California tell-tale. I can't remember if we walked around that neighborhood. We walked all over that city. My wife navigates and i simply follow and snap pics.

Out of curiosity, did you use a filter on your lens?

Hey Pirate, no filter, just an exposed lens. Out of curiosity, why do you ask? Does it look like a type of filter was used? I really don't know much about filters AT ALL. I should probably learn.

Actually, I ask because the pictures look wonderful. I'm just starting to use filters on my B&W shots but havn't developed the first rolls yet. It was just curiosity about your shots. They really do look great.

Nice work man, thanks for sharing. My absolute favorite is "soiled hound's teeth". I'd dig having a print to hang on my wall.

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate the comments! I was pretty happy with the images. Although, it's not very good for photographic self-esteem to view a Vivian Mier exhibit days before developing your own work. •_• I learned a few things on this trip. Firstly, I must master zone/hyper focusing techniques. I have a loose understanding of the process, but I'm not proficient enough to perform it fast and instinctually. I used to be opposed to this type of focusing, but in a city environment, it truly is a must.
Lastly, I need to be more cognizant of exposure when dealing with harshly contrasting shadows/sunlight. I've been exposing them correctly, but Vivian's exhibit reminded me that shadows can be utilized to create a highly dramatic, stark effect. She truly is masterful.

Nice pic. From Chicago also.
If you don`t know why you need a filter, you don`t need one.

Best I have seen in awhile! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing your jaunt through Chicago, & after seeing "bean reflect" I now take back what I said in the other thread about 'not' looking like a tourist. Your a freaking norseman!
No one in their right mind would mess with you! I'd be willing to bet in your ancestory your relatives were the great Vikings who ripped off heads & all that masculine fun stuff like sailing the 7 seas that they did back then. Besides your wife is carrying the bags...way to go on that one!
...just kidding though. Be sure to join our 50mm in B&W group on flickr. Look foward to seeing more from you.
