Walmart 120 services?

Ok, this may seem weird that I have to post the question here, but the lady at my Walmart argued with me for 5 minutes before realizing that they even do 120 film at Walmart... and then I could get no further information.

People using their service:

1) Will they make prints from 6x9 negatives?

2) Will they make scans of the images from 120?

3) Do they sleeve your negatives?

I only heard about this service here! I think I'll be shooting lots more 120 if I can get them to develop and make proof cheap.

1) Yes, as far as I know. I have had 6x7 and 6x6 done so I don't see why they wouldn't do 6x9
2) I've never asked them to.
3) They only sleeve transparencies. Negatives come cut and put in the envelope.

Some Walmarts sends it to Fuji labs and some send it to Dwayne's. Check this tutorial.

my Walmart has Fuji stamped on the envelopes.

When my prolab was still using analog machines they could only do 6x7's, that's why I ask... haven't sent out 120 for a long time.

hmmm... loose negatives in an envelope... I guess I'll be relying on digitalICE... 🙁

Wal-mart has two services - a one hour lab staffed by local people and a drop off box that is sent out to a lab (either Dwaynes or Fuji far as I can tell). The local people in the 24 hour booth develop 35mm color film in one hour. They know nothing else. NOTHING so don't talk to them, it's an effort in frustation. Drop your film in the box with clear instructions and you'll get it back in about 10 days. The film counter at my Wal-mart didn't even know where the drop off box was, I had to hunt for it. Sometimes I have them develop 35mm color film for scanning and just explaining I want the film developed with no CD and no prints is an ordeal.

Yup, that's what I'm running into... they know nothing (and they don't develop film at my Walmart's photo counter either, just digital), but I didn't see anyone else to ask... that's why I'm here.

I develop my own B&W & take it to WalMart to scan. They do this cheap & in house for me. I recently shot & developed a roll of 120. I took the roll to them to see if they could scan them for me. They said there machine wasn't able to scan 120 & it would have to be sent off. 2 weeks later my negs came back with a note from fuji stating they couldn't do this service. Bummer! I stopped in a lab in Charlotte & the lady said she could do the scans for like $3.25 a frame. When you add that to 12 that adds up to too much. One might as well buy a scanner that will do 120.

Put up a notice on the Charlotte Craigslist and I bet someone with a decent scanner can help you out.

I bet there are a lot of scanners sitting on desks all over the place (including NC) just collecting dust.

Quite a few Wally Worlds no longer do film at all.

If their film business was no longer more than x rolls per day for so many days, their film processor was shut down.

On a related subject: I used to have my film processed in-store at a local Wal-Mart. Recently I learned that this is no longer done in-house, but the (35mm) film is 'sent out' to be processed. Does anybody know the details on this i.e. where it's sent, turnaround time, etc?

I don't live in Charlotte but I deliver to a place beside the photo lab. Its in the shopping center on South Blvd. & Archdale Rd facing the GoodYear tire store. I don't know about the resolution of the scans. From the portraits on the wall they look to do nice work.

The people behind the stand at Walmart know very little, almost NOTHING. I send 120/220 all the time thru Walmart and I get back a neg roll -- sometimes they send proofs as well. But for less than $2 (US) I aint complaining.

Buying the scanner isn't the problem. It is the time it takes to do the scans. They are dirt slow. I have a Nikon35mm film scanner and would guess I have about 15 minutes a scan in each one once I do some cleaning and corrections and such and it has Digital ICE.
