I won a set of 8 Walz filters for the Canon listed as "Canon rangefinder filters". 7 are great and have 40mm mounts, either slim single thread or normal double threaded mounts. The last one puzzles me. It was in the original (?) box labeled Canon and B9. Inside was what looked like the normal Walz case and a B9 filter that looked as though it was the standard slim mount. However, when you open it up, it is like no mount I have seen. The case is obviously designed to take it but it has a tapered back. As I was at work, my first thought was that as it said Canon, it was tapered to 34mm and it tapered for a wide angle to avoid vignetting. However when I got home and measured it, it tapers to E36. I thought this was a Leica thread and I haven't heard of a Canon using 36mm. The rest were 40mm and the set box says Canon and they all came from the same place. Anybody come across one of these before and was there a Canon with a 36mm thread?
