This morning, after several mugs of Piñon coffee, and, of course, after NOT having to spend the day sitting by the door waiting for the brown truck any more, I'm feeling in a good mood.

I came back from Costa Rica with a Leica M6TTL whose RF was slightly misaligned. Then, there was the issue of my Elmarit 135 that didn't work in all my cameras (there was a serious misalignment in the googles). And my other M6TTL leaking light... And my Leica meter MR started acting funny dying on me every so often. Life wasn't good, because I also had to turn in my tenure application by August 1.

Grrrrrrr 😡 ! All the stress and no good toys! :bang:

Well... it's over. In May, my silver Leica returned from Leica USA, refurbished and fully functional. And the leaks are out! I've inspected all the slides done with it and there's nothing disturbing. Then, last week my MR came back from QLM, fixed (for free, because Mr. Milton felt generous), and yesterday, my black Leica body came back along with my Elmarit. All of them talking among themselves and in perfect alignment. I'm extremely pleased with my Leica stuff: two 'crons 50, one 'cron 90, one Hexanon 35 and one Elmarit 135. They work with two M6TTL and one nice M3, with a Leica MR for good exposures.

So, I'm feeling good again, letting the world know that my healthy Leica crew is ready to take the world. 😀 😀 😀

Of course, I'll feel better after I buy another Elmarit, but that's another story.

good for you francisco!
that tenure app must have been a big relief when handed in, eh?

and i also like the feeling when all your gear is working well and feels so good in the hand.

enjoy the weekend - go out a take a photo...!

I'm glad you got the tenure application in and that you are happy with the Leica's. I remember when all that stress was driving you to using an auto-focus SLR, a Nikon right? I am glad life for you is good again.

Well... I'll see to take a walk on DeKalb's wild side this afternoon (that is right now).

Sure, the stress begins after turning in the application... but I've decided to leave that in the hands of the several committees that have to look and scrutinize the stuff. I did my part, now it's their turn to earn their keep! 🙂

Of course, I do have a couple of papers in the back burner, and I want to submit them this semester.

But, like joe says, nothing beats the feeling of gear singing in unison and in tune! 🙂 And, yes, Brian, I even found the Nikon SLR alluring again...

Well, I must admit that with my Costa Rica additional wages I purchased a nice Sigma macro for my Nikon gear. However (oddly enough), I haven't found the time to scan some of those shots. I wonder why? 😕

How did I manage to scan the Leica photos, I really wonder... 😀

An Exa is a baby Exacta, made in the '50s and '60s. An Exa was my first slr -- speeds to 1/150th of a second and a genuine Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar lens. The finish they put on thos cameras was outstanding.
