Okay, a confession. I killed the thread that asked whether you wanted a special R2A / R3A with 85 and 105 frames. I did so because I had posted almost the same thing in the Photo.net Leica Photo forum. A belated attack of conscience told me that any writer who is so lazy as to "plagiarize" himself or herself instead of thinking up something fresh went sitting down to write ought to sell the computer and start counting his or her marbles to see if all of them are still there.
But this is a subject that keeps me awake on certain nights. So I am going to write something fresh and new on this theme.
Just suppose Cosina came out with an updated version of the Canon 7s. That is it would have M-mount, TTL metering and auto shutter but all of the 7s's frames: 35-50-85-100 (or 105)-135. It would also have the 7s's mantually set frames, as on on all Bessa R series cameras. It would also have the 7's base-length. Would you want a camera like this? Supposing it was a little more expensive than the R2A/R3A--would you still want it?
My honest feelings: I want a camera like this so badly I can taste it in my mouth. I am imagining this beautiful Bessa R-?-A that resembles a Canon 7s in glossy black paint with classic Leica leatherette-like grips.
With a camera like this I could use my Nikon S and Contax adapters, plus M and LTM mount lenses. The manually set frames would be great with the Nikon S and Contax mounts, just like my Canon 7 and 7s. But just me. What do you think?
