The test site is up and running after a migration. There are no customizations done to it yet since I am just learning how the damn thing works. However, if you want to play around with it you will need to add the following line to your computers hosts file.
62.151.182.54 rangefinderforumtest.com www.rangefinderforumtest.com
If you are on windows, do it this way ....
Doing this requires to run notepad as an adminstrator and opening the file bnamed hosts.
- Search for notepad on your computer.
- When you find it. right click on the notepad icon and run as administrator.
- In notepad, select open file
- Navigate through the following folders ...
windows\system32\drivers\etc\
- On the bottom right of the window where you are going through folders, you will see Text document (.txt)
- Change that to ALL files
- Then you will see the files in the folder.
- Select the hosts file and add the following line to the bottom of the file just as you see it pasted here.
62.151.182.54 rangefinderforumtest.com www.rangefinderforumtest.com
-Save the file
Then you are good to go. Just open a web browser and go to www.rangefinderforumtest.com
On Mac,
just edit the /etc/hosts file

Well my first reaction was I would love to help, then I read your post and realised I didn't understand a word of it, clearly I am not computer literate enough!
Instead I'll just have to thank you again for the effort you're putting in to save on of the last bastions of sanity on the net and a wonderful resource. Thanks again, Mark

This link works. And whoa! Is this new hosting software fast! Unbelievable.

Blazing fast. What a relief. If you log in, can you use it or do we have to wait for an official launch?
Having run another photo forum using it, Xenforo is the bomb. Especially if some cool add-ons are implemented. RFFers are in for a treat.

Very fast -- nice! Thanks to the RFF Powers-That-Be for doing all the work required to make these improvements.
Feel free to post stuff. just keep in mind it will eventually be deleted once we do a fresh import. So just keep that in mind.
working on gallery and classifieds stuff using xenforo creds. getting there but be patient.

Looks and works lovely. Except I can't log-in. I couldn't use my current log-in to Register either as it is already in use. Seeing as I didn't want to have to create a whole new log-in I just browsed around. And it is FAST!
Hoping the log-in credentials will be ported over to the new site, but if not then I'll just start a new set at that time. But not before.

Did you try a password reset?
I am curious if anyone else has been able to log in.
password reset tried twice, but no email ever arrived.

im going to send you an email from there to see if you get it.
I will also reset your password and share it with you via a pm here.
Keep in mind. email is kind of rigged for now. Sow it may be reported as spam or suspicious.

I tried to log in. Site did not like my pass word. Did not try to reset because I do not want to mess things up on this site.
Really vast improvement over there as far as user experience. Love it.

No, I can wait until the new site is fully functional.

Not much feedback here. Was hoping to get more involved.

I just tried ... Went through the six most recent passwords I've used for RFF ... None of them worked.

So I then attempted to do a password reset, and I got this:
"... Not quite ready for prime time ..."

Oops! We ran into some problems.
Your account has temporarily been locked due to failed login attempts.

Well, the new site is not complete, and one can't use their RFF log-in, so it's kind of hard to get enthusiastic about something that is at best only halfway towards being functional.
Are you happy now?
