I just received a Canonet 28 with a non-responsive meter. I would like to remove the top, in order to peel off some vinyl, remove a front panel and clean the contacts at the upper right. I've never removed the top before. There are three screws, as well as the winder and rewind cranks that I assume have to be removed. Can someone point out what's involved?

Before you dive into it, have you cleaned the battery compartment (Vinegar rubdown)? It may be as simple as that.

Thanks.

BTW: I did not mean to post this query twice. After I posted it once, I checked to see whether there were any responses, and could not find it. So I posted it again. Now I see the original post (this one) is here after all. Sorry about that.
