I became impatient waiting to find a true SP hood, and simply purchased one of the cheaper KALT metal hoods that B&H sells. I bought a 52mm version along with a 49-52mm step-up ring because I wanted to be able to use my existing suite of filters. I've been quite pleased with it, and it has exhibited no vignetting even with a polarizing filter between it and the lens. I did perform one impromptu test to see if the hood made a significant difference, and the results weren't 100% conclusive. I think the hood helps, but perhaps isn't absolutely necessary. I generally carry my 35SP around in it's original leatherette case, so carrying the hood as well isn't terribly convenient.
