wanted - walk around zoom for Nikon N2000

I have a N2000 that doesn't get used. I'd like a zoom in the 28/35 to 70/80 range. Not looking to spend a lot, so it doesn't have to be fast lens. It also does not have to be a Nikon.

Look at the Nikon 35-70 3.3-4.5 and 35-105. Both are bargains. KEH has the 35-70 for under $40 and the 35-105 in the $85 range. Stay awY from the 43-83. They weren't very good lenses.

Tamron 35~105 2.8 AIS manual focus.
Lovely lens and now cheap as borscht at KEH.
I've used mine for 10 or 12 years and love it.

I'd second the nomination for the Tamron 35-70/3.5. I love mine. I'd stay away from the Cosina made Nikkor 35-70/3.5-4.8 though. NOTE 4.8 not 4.5.

Yes, the Nikkor 35-70/f3.3-4.5 is very nice, and compact too. Don't overlook the Series E 36-72/3.5 either. The Vivitar Series 1 28-90/2.8-3.5 (not certain of the aperture range) is very good also, and not too large.

Somewhat soft at 28mm, but good at 35mm and up.
