Just managed to catch the last 10 minutes of this program on PBS the other night, unfortunately.

James Nachtwey, Chris Anderson, Gary Knight, and Chris Morris of VII Photo on their experiences in photographing the war in iraq.

Did anyone happen to tape it?

much obliged,

Kind of a tie-back to the other thread:

This is one circumstance where I think it is OK to photograph death/the dead. We are desensitized to people dying in Iraq right now. It has become a daily tally. Lives are being "spent" like dollars over there, and they are just becoming numbers instead of people.

Didn't tape it, sorry. Many networks would be happy to sell you a copy of it. Check their website.

I googled before posting the thread, and there were no sources I found for purchase. PBS's site does not have it. I didn't even see it on VII's own site.

So, if you know of one, please let me know, thanks :)

I was disappointed by that documentary. Some segments were well made but other parts were somewhat lacking in sensitivity. "War Photographer" on the other hand is a magnificent documentary. I feel the Iraq one tried to emulate that documentray but it ended up being more of a pastiche.

But it's always interesting to see photographers talk about their experiences.

This is OT, but possibly we share a common interest. I've been Googling/Searching on occasion for galleries or blogs of Combat Photogs (Military). If you know of any, I'd appreciate the link.

If you Google combat cameras, you can find the Canadian Armed Forces Combat photography web site. the CAF has two distinct photo trades, one is drawn from combat arms types and the other is " normal" photographers. The Cambat camera guys go out with the troops, and there has been some smokin' photography done in Afganistan by the guys in the last couple of years.

Just a heads up , Viewer discretion is advised for this site , There are some very graphic pictures and not something you would want kids seeing .

Paul

Sorry about that and thanks for pointing it out Paul....

The link does take you to the home page where there are no images and there's a warning.

Not a problem agi , Just thought it might be worth pre warning people as I clicked on one pic as i couldn't really make out what it was from the thumbnail and nearly puked
