Many of you might have seen an unprecedented increase in sold GSW III in the listing of completed ebay auctions. Most of you might be aware that this is fake and somebody is putting up a camera for auction - without having this camera. This somebody manages to put it up under the names of one German, one Austrian and most possible tomorrow under a third serious identity.
The worst thing is that there are foolish people - like me - who bid on this fraud. I took the Austrian seller for a sufficient guarantee until a gentleman from UK warned me that the official seller might never become aware of the fraud because everything might be done via an email address in the article description and Western Union. I have sent warnings to each individual bidder (mostly novices from Spain - given that there are not too many GSW III sold by European-based sellers). I also challenged Ebay to help stop this activity. For those of you who are detectives: The original and correct auction was http://cgi.ebay.de/Fuji-GSW690III-6...Z7561964177QQcategoryZ710QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It ended Nov. 9th.
Then on November 10 the identical article with identical photos, counter and even serial number of the lens is put up for auction in a different part of the globe under http://cgi.ebay.de/Fuji-GSW690III-6...561880135QQcategoryZ48517QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
The final bid for the fake reaches £180,50 with 7 bids of fools (like me).
Then even before the fake auction ends this criminal puts up the same item with the same description in a different country under http://cgi.ebay.de/Fuji-GSW690III-6...562142736QQcategoryZ48517QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
All could have known that there is no such thing as a free lunch - not even in China;-)
Any comments from your part on this.

2 G690, 1 50mm lens and some other fine gadgets.

Finally now - far too late / unacceptably late - ebay took the two fraudulent actions out of the listing. but only after both auctions were completed and most probably a novice buyer has already a payment request in his mail.
I informed each individual that bidded.
It looks like ebay also sent an email to all bidders mentioning the possibility that the auction was done by an unauthorised third party usage of a valid ebay account. Why don't they say it is fraud. It stinks and is fraud!
