I walked up to the counter of a shop, and the guy behind it stared at my black X100. I could see him thinking about what it was, and then he said, 'X100?' I never would have thought that someone would recognize it.

In the ensuing conversation he said that he was thinking of getting an X10, but that the X100 was a bit out of his reach. When I showed it to him, he said that it was just like a camera he used to have. I named a few, but he said that 'there were two models, one with three lenses and one that was fixed lens', and that he had the fixed lens camera. 'Hexar AF?' I said, and he said that it was!

He really liked the X100, so I told him of a shop that had a secondhand one at the moment. He seemed quite keen, so perhaps that X100 won't be in the cabinet much longer.

I'm enjoying my X100 very much at the moment! It does have its quirks but the new firmware has helped a lot, and the overall feel and operation is great.

As for it being a better camera in black, I don't know, as I haven't used a silver one! Haha! But it does blend with dark clothes better than a silver camera, which gives me a little more feeling of discreetness when it's tucked behind a scarf.

It was very interesting that he said it felt just like his Hexar AF. Makes me want to get one of those legendary cameras as well.

Give up the struggle as no one can resist GAS!
The X100 is coming down in price even here in NZ it's now affordable and with the price of film and developing going silly and the price of used X100 coming down I'm thinking or making the move.
The new firmware is another +
