Please forgive...we have a few new additions to the household today. Couple of pooches, ten weeks old, had been abandoned in a trash can in Nashville, NC. We adopted them from the local animal shelter. Milo and Molly, cute as buttons. Little poop machines, is what they are.

This is the boy, Milo...

And this is his sister, Molly. She has one brown eye and one blue eye. On her face, I mean. Not that brown eye.

2 of them-10 weeks old!
gluttons for punishment i'd say...;)

what kind of pups do you think they are?

We're told that one of their littermates looked kinda like a German Shepard, and Molly has the one eye different colored like Huskies do sometimes. Could be some Golden Retriever in there...but really, who knows? They look stocky, big paws, they could go 70 pounds when they're grown, or they could stay mid-sized. I doubt they'll be small, though. I'm glad they're mutts, I've always preferred a good mutt over just about any purebred.

Nashville or Ashville, if it's Nashville you've gotta name one "Elvis" :)

Nashville, NC, is just up the road from us, so it was Nashville. Not at all like the 'other' Nashville! And the Mrs would NOT hear of calling one of them "Elvis" or even "Gracie" after Graceland. She picked the names, I'm good with that. She has also picked up more little smelly brown puppy presents right off the bat than I have. I have to get busy.

We adopted two from Animal Control just after Thanksgiving. They're heeler crosses, that's Australian Cattle Dogs for you all down under. They both got sick, possible distemper, one almost died, $600 later they're fine. They're 20 and 25 pounds now and great dogs.

Brian,

Glad to hear they're ok, they look great! Our big orange cat ate a thread off a bedspread and kept unravelling it until it came out both ends, he was strung like a popcorn ball on a Christmas tree. Trouble was he got it looped around his tongue as well. $500 vet bill later, he's got a big scar on his tummy and still no smarter. This was while we were in ABQ. The vet over behind Paseo Del Norte / Wyoming was ours, they were good. We lived right in those apartments.

We took Jack (the B&W) to Dr. Helper (that is his name right) as a second opinion. He started him on an IV Sat. morning and then had to take him to a Vet. Urgent Care until Sunday night. After we got him home, Jesse got sick with something similar but luckly not as bad. We also have a diabetic cat which gets insulin shots twice a day. What we do for our animals. Add two little kids on top of all this and you see why I don't do more photography.

Bill, congratulations! You'll get oodles of shots and fun with these guys.

And, of course, they'll teach you to be a responsible dad! :)

Bill, those two new members of your family will be a constant joy and great companions. You've also done a fine thing by adopting from the shelter.

My wife and I are keeping our son's "puppy" that came from a shelter in Fayetteville, NC, and she's wonderful to have around. Looks to have a lot of Black Lab in her but she's still just a mutt and I wouldn't trade her for anything else.

You're going to have constant picture opportunities with them. I'm sure we'll see much more of them. :)

Cute indeed Bill ! :)

Pups are a great target to exercise our focusing abilities, you'll become a master of wide open fast focus !

Thanks, all, for the kind words! We're taking the pups to the vet on Friday for whatever shots remain to be had - they have had some already, including parvo. The adoption sheet came with a list signed by the vet of what they had already had, that's what we paid a large adoption fee for. But we'll be double careful to make sure they get whatever they need!

For those of you who have had sick pups and cats, my sympathies - I did lose my old feline friend a few months ago, and I know what it is like. Still miss her friendly meow.

And yes, I'm sure there will be lots o' pics - I'll try not to overwhelm you guys!

Best Regards,
