For those of you who have their own websites I would appreciated your feedback on which one you use, why you like it and things you don't like about the host.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated,

I have used Mediatemple for more than a decade now. The service has been great. The tech people are Americans, and they have been extremely helpful over the years when I had dumb questions and even difficult questions. They're a bit more expensive than many services. I pay $20 a month, but that is hardly going to break anyone's budget. That lets you host up to 100 sites; I have a number of them on my account for myself, clients, and friends.

The only bad thing I can think of is that they are being bought by Godaddy. They're saying that Godaddy is going to operate Mediatemple separately with its own staff, but you never know. Will suck if Godaddy messes up such a great hosting company. A lot of big corporations use Mediatemple for their sites.

Godaddy + Network Solutions are the HORROR of web hosts....
Have to deal with their &%$# all the time.

Want to build a great website easily without all the headage of Wordpress...

Use Squarespace

Create a free account (no credit card needed) play with it for 2 weeks and see what you got.

If you have trouble, their support is world class!

jAlbum with Bananskin - a bit slow but super for just displaying your photographs. It is pretty simple, pretty basic and pretty intuitive, I think.
Other skins have possibilities for blog and sales.
All depends on what you want both now and in the future.
