Hallo,

I got the ugliest M2 you ever did see from that evil place last week.

Astonishingly, even though it looks like it's lived in a plumbers toolbox all its life it is smooth, quiet, the viewfinder and patch are lovely and clear and the shutter blinds look immaculate.

However, when I use a speed of 1/30 or less some clockwork (at least that is what it sounds like) continues to tick after the second curtain has closed. This isn't effecting shutter speeds but I'm worried I might be making something worse

Woohoo! Cheers - my mind is now at rest.

I was worried because with my IIIa slow speeds the ticking stops once the second curtain closes...

I guess they should have put it as an MP3 shutter sound option in the M8 and a lot of people would have been happier.

🙂) I hada the same "problem" with the M2 i bought from thmk, but i figured if he said it's working fine, i better not panic but trust him. SO i looked around on the Net a bit and found it's normal.
It's funny, though.

My M4 too continues to whir with the slow speeds after the shutter's closed.. And indeed, it's funny. The only worry I have, is that when you immediately wind on when the whir's still going, some mechanism inside will go kaput.. Hasn't happened yet though.

I love that sound. That's the sound of precision at work. As far as the cosmetics, a good cleaning can go a long way. Touching up the paint and replacing the vulcanite really spruces things up. Strip the chrome and paint it black and you'll really have something. Taking the top cover off is not really a big deal. Stu

As mark says. Being the idiot I am, I tried to see if anything would happen if I advanced whilst the After-Exposure Whirring (AEW) was going on - nothing. It's fine and I've done it maybe 30-40 times.

Precision at work, Stu? Reminds me of my meticuously crafted Skoda "Rapide" which whose engine would run down in its own time once the ignition was turned off 🙂

Yeah, but that's a lab experiment. What we need is field experience.. 😀

The Ms and IIIcfgs are ok on leiciavits and winders/motors, and the motors don't wait for the whirring to stop.

My only problem is don't IIIas make a similar sound at 1st slow speed, I'd a thought they did.

Normally an early sign that your shelf queen needs a CLA is that the whir whir only goes whir? So does kully indeed have a IIIa shutter problem, in being?

Noel
