Hi
I have been playing about the camera and found some odd metering - it seems.
Centre weighted (P/A) - Pointing the crosshairs straight at a lit light bulb gives a 80th SS at f2. But pointing the crosshairs below or above it, so that the bulb is at the very top or very bottom of the viewfinder gives a 200th SS. This is surely broken!??
Spot (M) - Point at the light bulb and it tells me it wants a 200th (good), move about 5 inches to the right and its underexposed (good) but then move 5 inches to the left and it is still taking the same reading as pointing directly at the bulb.
I hope i explained this well enough. It seems weird, right?

Mine does that. I've just shot a test film using 'P' mode only. If the pictures are ok then I'm fine, but if not then it's off to the repair shop to see if the sensor needs replacing. Wonder if the sensor is unique and available or is a standard one used on lots of camra's and is still available?

Yea, weird. Might be an issue with the sensor. Other then that I can say that the white dot right next to the lens is the metering window (it has a red dot next to it this is the self-timer blinky thing), if that is obscured by something it will throw the metering off, might be it.

As mentioned above, check your fingers don't happen to be above the metering sensor. Also, if you're very near the bulb in question there's a chance it could be parallax error.
My AF has its quirks - underexposes more than most other cameras with backlit subjects i reckon - but it is admirably consistent.
