Is it just me or are any of you other folks seeing this?
When I just logged in, this poll was top of new posts:
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=20148#post20148
I've been seeing some long ago posts resurfacing so I didn't think it odd at first.
Then I noted two things: joe was the last person to post to it. The time was given as 2 minutes ago in the new posts page. Clicked on it and the time in the post itself is October of 2004.
Huh?
Not a problem or anything but, odd.

I've been getting old things turning up in my 'New Posts' list- I get listed as being the last poster to something 15 minutes ago when it really was weeks ago, and the thread has continued on, but hasn't been posted to in days.

if someone 'votes' on a poll but does not post to the thread, it will go to the top of the threads. there is no way to tell when the last vote was though.
joe
OK, that clears thing up a bit for me. Thanks, joe!
sepiareverb, the time listed for new posts has also been a little odd for me, I wildly guess that it depends on how recently I've cleared my browser's cache.

Are you on a Mac by chance? 10.3.9 here.

Hadn't thought of the cache/history as a cause.

I think this is one of the nicer features of RFF, and fortunately its not restricted to polls only. Whenever someone adds something to an old thread, we still get to see it. Especially in the repair forums, this makes for much more consistent reading than spliced threads..

oh jeez, is that what it was all this time?! I kept thinking that there was something seriously wrong with the forum software everytime I'd click on an "active thread" only to find the last post was hours, days, or even months ago!

It will go on the top if someone answers the poll.
Erik,
I realize now that you answered my question. I was misreading what you wrote.:bang: sorry.

Me too, actually. It was just my not understanding that just voting on a poll but not posting to the thread will do the same thing.

No, I'm on a win2k machine using the current FireFox browser.
So, it's really not "Weirdness on the front page" but "Forum software ignorance on Rob's part"! That I can work on.
