I hope Nikon learnt a lot since then and manage to provide a system that keeps Nikon users happy. The lens roadmap will be a key factor IMO - and ensuring enough lenses are released to dissuade Nikon users from leaking to Sony, Fuji, and Canon (when Canon gets around to releasing theirs). I'm assuming the new mount is backward-compatible (but how far?).

Yes. Yes it is.

You also get the original live view!

OT, but AFAIK Canon was the only manufacturer to give SLR users a live view, with the pellicle mirror.

If you forget to lock it up then it'll become mirrorless.

I think it's fair to say that a reverse Galilean finder is one of the original "live view" aids.

I wish they had picked a different letter for the lens mount. Can't wait for all the faux accent writings and talking about "Zee mirrorless Zee6 and Zee7".


It most certainly appears they are marketing these to the pros, since one has to decide if they want low light capability, or high resolution. Too bad they can't build both into one sensor.
