The best camera is one that still works!
The best cure for a missing M8 is probably an M9 and if someone gave me an M9 I wouldn't be complaining.
I'd keep my D700 though because being able to use 6400 ISO occasionally would be a very hard asset to part with! 😀

Well Ladies & Genitals, it pains me to say that my new M8 has had to be sent back to the seller. The cock-eyed framelines and led's and 11500 shots instead of 2500 as claimed, were too much to stomach.
I had to persue a full refund through the Buyer Protection Process, though luckily he saw the light before the 10 day 'negotiating' period was up.
I've put a deposit on a low mileage Chrome spouse, sorry camera from Red Dot Leica in London (same place I bought my 1st M8 last year) and wonder why, for the sake of an xtra £50, I didn't do this in the first place.
So a little word of advice when buying a Leica. Ask the seller what the Shot Count is from the Unique Image Number. If they don't know how to do this, ask them to send you a pic from the camera.
Finally, in your exitement don't go leaving glowing feedback before you've had a chance to field test the camera.

I've been tortured for the past couple weeks myself, except over a piece of SLR gear.
Sold my Canon 50mm F1.2 L and bought the non-L f1.4 version telling myself it wasn't worth the huge mark up for the speed and besides, I can exploit that high ISO goodness when needed.
Big mistake. I feel exactly what you described and sympathize completely. Already plotting on how to get another 50mm L. Hopefully, next month 🙂

I did exactly the same thing. Sold my 50L to buy a 35L, and bought a 50mm f1.4 thinking "how much worse can it be". Man... I had no idea how good my 50L was. And internet law would tell you otherwise! The ef f1.4 is a piece of crap.
I want my 50L back.

Yep. Photograpjy for me is all about emotion. If your gear don't cut it, it's murder. Like packing in cig's.
