Thanks to the Head Bartender, we now have our own Hong Kong Photo Club banner under the Photo Club section!

Welcome to all viewers and thanks for all input, thoughts, suggestions, images and whatever!

Just about ten of you out here in this now seasonly hot and humid but always excellent city have expressed an interest in getting together and sharing RF experiences and aspirations, so if you haven't already PM'd me your details, please do so (if you want to be included).

We will be organising our first get-together in the next couple of weeks (by mid June, I hope, schedules permitting).

You guys have fun! I love your city. I lived in Kunming and Beijing for 5 years between 1996-2001 and was often there in transit or business. I miss it tons. Good luck with the club!

Thanks, Rich. Looks like Asia was good to you! Great pix, lovely wife and son. I'm thinking about picking up a G2, as I've been very happy with the G1 and thought a set of both would be convenient in terms of not having to change lenses. (Sounds like a good enough excuse, right?!)

Congratulations! I love Hong Kong! I used to live there from 1973-1991. I still go back every year. (Hopefully, this year I will buy an MP.)

The last time I bought a camera in HK was in Photo Scientific on Stanley St. back in 1992 (FM2 Nikon). I am new to RFs. I have been to the places in TST and Mongkok but never bought from them. Looking for a place.

Hi, my wife is from Hong Kong, and she wants to travel there in December to visit her family and friends. All they do is sit around, eat, and converse in Chinese. I usually run off, get lost, and photograph. Meanwhile, my wife gives me a piece with the address, and directions for cab to take me back to where we are staying.

I have only been there once, what a great city!

Hey, I need to learn some cantonese! My wife tries to teach me a few phrases here and there, but she keeps telling me that the tone is wrong, and I am saying something that does not make any sense.

I have one phrase down that she taught me, "Hey, lang loy, hobeina." Not sure on the spelling, but it is the one phrase I have down. I am only allowed to say this to my neice in laws. Go figure?

It would be cool to meet up when I'm there . . .

In my time in China (Kunming and Bejing) I always found the best way to learn Chinese is ride in the cabs and chat with the drivers. That said the many visits to HK where I learned my Cantonese the phrases I learned from the HK cab drivers I cannot really share such with the wife!

Have you ever ridden a cab in HK? Let's put it this way, I can help you order dim sum, or curse out your mother in more way's than you know!

My god, I miss that place!

Funny, I live in San Francisco and I'll bet half the photographers in HK envy me for all the photo opportunities they think I must have everywhere. And here I sit envying all the photographers in HK for all the photo ops I think they have right out their front doors.

Is there a lesson somewhere there? 😀
