And I have a back log of film to develop, and have been shooting a bit too!!!!

I have not processed film since the winter. I dumped my Diafine back then because it was over 2 years old, and surely on it's way out. I guess I probably didn't mix up a new batch because I was out of the fix and needed more. Never got around to getting some. 🙁

All good news I guess. I did ring up Freestyle and ordered some chemicals, enough to get me through my back log and then some. I have lots of Rodinal, DDX, HC110 and more Diafine to mix. I have some stop, but bought some odorless "green" stuff to go along with the fix. Found a bag of D76 too.

Just getting organized to start processing again.

Diafine made for a lazy rover though. Too easy to just shoot everything to suit the one developer and just dump it all, mix and match, into the tanks together for processing. I may shoot to some other developers now just for the fun of it.

Get around to that backlog young man!

Fixer always seems to be what I run out of first, you'd think I'd would learn to stock up on it...

Rover,

What was your last film like with the 2 year old diafine?

My last roll was good. I bought my Diafine the same time as a lot of guys here though and the others' stocks started going bad, so I figured mine was about up. I bought two mixes though, so I had a back up to replace the old stuff.

That is why I ran out I think. I buy it 6 batches at a time, and just forgot to replace it when the last one was mixed.

I am going to swap over to Arista odorless chemicals to see how I like those. I am assuming the stop and fix will be acceptable, and since my wife was upset the few times I have set up a darkroom to print in the bathroom because of the chemical odor, the new stuff should work out fine to let me do some printing in piece.

Last time I bought new fixer I got odorless by mistake - now I have to be extra-careful to distinguish between my cylinders of fixer and stop wash, because I can't tell the difference by smell (taste still works though - fixer tastes horrible).

Next time I'm going back to the smelly sort.
