The relative lack of banding at high ISO makes the Quattro look like a winner for black and white work under those conditions, but I still think I like the output of the Merrill sensor better, in both color and black & white.
I was using the Merrill during a month thru-hiking the Pyrenees alongside a film camera loaded with Agfa Precise (rebranded Fuji).
The Merrill produces landscape images that have more than enough wow to rivet my attention. Quattro looks impressive, to, but so far I give Merrill an edge. And when all the SW bugs are figured out and the Quattro pulls definitively ahead, I won't be trading out my Merrills. Those are awesome cameras for what they are and do.
