Well luminous landscape hates the Quattro

The relative lack of banding at high ISO makes the Quattro look like a winner for black and white work under those conditions, but I still think I like the output of the Merrill sensor better, in both color and black & white.

I was using the Merrill during a month thru-hiking the Pyrenees alongside a film camera loaded with Agfa Precise (rebranded Fuji).

The Merrill produces landscape images that have more than enough wow to rivet my attention. Quattro looks impressive, to, but so far I give Merrill an edge. And when all the SW bugs are figured out and the Quattro pulls definitively ahead, I won't be trading out my Merrills. Those are awesome cameras for what they are and do.

I gave had my Quattro for about 3-4 weeks now. Comments on physical design vs Merrill soap box design:
- I don't need to buy a grip
- the longer design does attract attention.. Only the second time since I switched to digital that I gave ever been asked about what I was shooting..
- longer design, I have no problem w/ my messenger bag w/ camera insert that others have complained about.
- u either are going to adapt or hate the new grip. I think the bigger (thicker) your hand and/or longer your fingers are, the harder it will be to learn to adapt to this camera. I am not sure anyone would say they love it sceptic those that designed it. I agree the new grip should have been the normal design...
-- I cradle the camera using left hand, right hand uses the two fingers after the index finger around grip and the last curled under the camera like a ledge. The thumb under the indent of the four way controller.
