Went Back to a DX Nikon But!

Yes but, I have to decide what lens to get, I already got a 18-35mm
3.5-4.5D lens but have to decide next to get. I was thinking of going the
Fuji route (which I love) a 35mm (52mm) or a 50mm (75mm) I just
have to decide which I would get more use out of. Any ideas guy's would
help.

That may be the best choice, it's a fifty with the DX and heard it's a
sharp lens.

That's an awesome camera. Grab a DK17M and you can get that viewfinder bigger. I never had a problem with glasses.
As for lenses, I'd pick full frame, pro level glass. That sensor in the D2X takes no prisoners.
The 35/1.8 DX is one of the best crop format lenses available, so I'd start there. I have that lens for my D300s that has been relegated to being used as a document copier now that I'm shooting all film.
If it is a pro level 35mm lens it should be good on the D2x. I always loved the old crinkle paint era AF lenses and the 20-35/2.8 was my favorite.

Thanks Phil, I did get it for the Nikon flash system because the Canon system
is so so.

I love my Nikon flashes. I have an SB-21, 25, 26 and 27. They are the most reliable flashes you can get. I really need to find another like new or new SB-26. The best flash ever made by any manufacturer, in my opinion.
And yes, the Canon system sucks. I've seen both identical and equivalent exposures completely messed up by new Canon flashes while they should have been perfectly even from sample to sample.

Another vote for the 35 1.8 DX! Borrowed one for and afternoon to try out on my Df and was really impressed by how much it delivered for such a bargin price. Here's one from about six inches from the subject and wide open:

What I've got in my DX bag with the D300s:

18-55 DX VR II; Stays on the body without the battery grip

18-105 DX VR; Stays on the body with the battery grip

35 DX

40 DX Macro

70-300 DX VR

That should cover just about anything, but I'm hoping to get one of the 10-22 or 12-24 wide angle zooms.

I would get a 28-80/3.5-5.6 D to match the zoom you already have and a nice monopod. Yes I would go the Fuji S5 Pro route. Lol

I'd go for the 50mm then, is mostly cheaper too, and a lot better for bokeh portraits.


I have a 30mm Sigma too. But not that happy with it, had backfocus problem needed to configure inside the camera, it's ok now, ... however the focus is a little too "soft" in my opinion and a Nikon lens would be sharp right away I guess.

I heard about that happening to those lenses, hope you get it adjusted.
