We had a glorious day up in the NY/MA Berkshires today. High temps were around 50F with bright "Sunny 16" sky.

More like an "early Spring day" in March than late January. Perhaps the "plus" side of global warming?

Facing these conditions, I did what needs to be done, grabbed the R2S with Nikkor 50/1.4 and went shooting in Great Barrington. Tons of folks walking the streets, rambling in and out the all the "quaint" shops etc.

Heck, there were a couple of guys leaping over puddles from the melting snow etc.

I got the shots, folks. Hang up and give up - one of these is the winner! 😀

Just joking (you think) but it sure was a glorious day to be out shooting!

I need to get out as well. I missed what had to have been a perfect event for some downtown street shooting last weekend. There was a "Dillenger Days" event on both Satuday and Sunday. There was a reenactment of the capture of the 30's era gangster in front of the Hotel Congress where the original event took place. In the middle of this a 16 year old kid stole a car and ended up in the middle of the crowd gathered for the festivities. He tried to run down a cop and got shot at and finally captured at an apartment complex not far from the hotel. All the elements required for some great street shots were there. But I was not. :bang:

Did a bit of that yesterday. We had that same weather that then moved east (and left us with rain above freezing all day. Bletcherous.) Got one potentially great shot of a lost toy through a fence. Hopefully it'll work as well as I saw it in my mind.

Joe, This is pretty much what the streets look like around here...but I hear you, I'll dig deeper and try harder 😉.

If this is a current shot - then it looks like you're having a mild winter too!

Don't get me wrong - to get the shots I took today - I had to drive 20 miles to a halfway decent sized 'burg. Local town of Copake is mightly small!'

Of course I do get to back down to NYC on Monday - but there they make me spend all day in an office, at a desk, in front of a computer doing something called "work"!! 😱

I was doing the same thing in Eastern MA, using a J8 I just got from Kim. New to street, I am having a hard time "taking" people's pictures, but it was still fun shooting with a new lens.

C. H.,
This was taken about sixty miles from where I live and a world away; we have about 42 to 48 inches of snow on the ground. My street shots from around town would be of snow-plow canyons 🙂.

Cheers,

Ick! What a difference a day makes. 24 hours later and it's around 40F and raining. Dreary day today - certainly no Sunny 16! 🙁
