Anyone have this meter? Is it appropriate for studio work?

Not exactly, but I have two Master V Westons, a bit older than yours, but look the same. They just returned from an overhaul at Quality Light-Metric, and unless a cell dies or I drop one again I'm probably set for life. It'll work great in the studio and outdoors except in very low light. I always use mine with the incident dome.

i have had this meter for 15 years. it is made of metal and glass and has no batteries. it has been my backup meter for about 5 others. no good for flash, not great for low light or long exposures but it always works.

Take a look here...

www.westonmeter.org.uk

I have a Weston Master II just serviced by QLM and have read that Selenium Celled meters aren't very good in low light...although this meter's scale does allow for low light situations...
When using it one has to point it directly at object to be measured and be careful not to allow other stray light to affect reading...

Is this particular one made by Megatron rather than Weston?

I was just wondering about that. Mine has "Weston Euro-Master" on the face, but otherwise appears identical. I just bought it, mint, in box. I like the simpler dial, which I find easier to read than the Weston V.

I think the distinguishing characteristic of the Megatron version is the all-black dials, versus the red & black of the original. I have one of each so I'll compare when I get home.

Unfortunately Megatron have stopped manufacturing the Euro-Master II. :(

Well at home now and for the first time I've looked at the two together. The Megatron is as the OP's picture above and the Weston has dials with a mixture of red and black marks and numbers and a display scale with red markings. There are other slight design differences. Also the display scale is labeled Euro-MASTER II on the Megatron and WESTON MASTER V on the Weston. The two are quite distinct.

The Invercone incident light adapter for the Weston version isn't as thick as the newer model's Invercone, but the basic design is the same.

This really is a nice looking meter. Wonder where I can find one like it for a reasonable price? I have a Soligor that works with my M3 but this looks so much more elegant.;)

Quality Light Metric in Hollywood, CA is the place to get Westons (and other makes) fixed and I think he sells rebuilt ones. If anything they'd be the place to ask about where to purchase a Euromaster, or a rebuilt Master IV or V. Give George a call at 323-467-2265
