Highway 61
Revisited
Megatron Ltd have ceased their activity since February 2010. This is of some consequence for the content of the whole thread as well. I have a Weston Master II with a dead selenium cell, which is thus a decorative item now.

Can anyone advise about removing the 2 hex-headed screws on the back of the meter (holding the name plate on)? I have a deceased Master II, not worth sending for repair (it only cost £8). The screws are almost flush with the plate, and not slotted as on the V in the above photos.

The Weston exposure meters were made just down the road about four miles from where I lived growing up. It was a well known and well regarded company: one of my school mate’s dad worked there.
When I got into photography at school in the 60s I wrote to the Sangamo Weston company telling them about how we were setting up a darkroom and after school club etc, and the company sent the school two refurbished Weston IIs for free!
Needless to say, when I started out working in photography I bought a Weston V.
More information about the Sangamo Weston company and their meter V is here:

If you are following this long running post, note that Megatron in London stopped all parts and repairs in 2010. Quality Light in Hollywood stopped repairing these meters a couple of years ago, when they ran out of a supply of meter cells. There is a fellow in England (who comes up on a Google search) who repairs these meters, including cell replacement, however his fixed rate for repairing a Weston Master Iv, V or Euromaster is over $200 with shipping. I like my Weston Master V and my Euromaster, but not that much.

After a long absence from RFF, I realised that older posts have lost their attached photos... Luckily, I still had the original photos from this thread, and managed to "re-attach" them.
Otherwise, the whole thread is useless (without photos).
Rgds,
Denis
Very nice of you. Thanks!
