wet scan vs dry scan

Wet scanning is gnarly expensive and crazy hi-res. It involves specialized equipment that requires experienced technicians. Dry scanning is everything else, from flatbeds to specialized desktop film scanners.
 
I have done a little DIY wet scanning with an Epson flatbed.
You can set up a pretty slick rig with a piece of clip frame glass, thin foam tape for height adjustment, acetate, and scanning fluid.

You gain a little in terms of contrast and dust reduction, but the benefit I liked was film flatness.

It's a lot of work for marginal gains...
