Agree. Darkened room, flashlight, M6 body with no lens and the back open. Shine a light in the front and look at the back, trying various angles. Do this with the shutter uncocked and the shutter cocked to check both 1st 2nd curtain. I've heard of light leaks from above the top of the curtain. Seems that the curtain edge curls a bit. There is also some light seal strip in there. This is all just based on what I've read and remembered. Good luck!

I would also try WITHOUT the case.
If you are saying that your baseplate is not sitting as it should, You might have a huge light leak from there but it's hidden by the case.
If shooting without the case makes things worse, you have your solution.

The puzzling part is the leak in between frames on the b&w roll. For the curtain to leak there, you would have to pause mid-wind for a moment, unless it was a decent sized pinhole. But if the hole was large enough not to require a pause, then I would think you would get a stripe. Since the leak is in between frames or in the center of a frame, if it is a curtain, I would think that it would be most likely the first curtain. But that's sort of a given as the first curtain is the one that sits in camera exposed to light while you wander looking for photos to take.
My potentially lame hunch is that the hole might be along the top edge of the metering dot. That would account perhaps for the slight arc to the shape of the flare, the paint edge being an arc.
