What 35mm film cartridge is this?

Can somebody identify what 35mm cartridge is this? Nikon, Leica?

I think it's a Leitz IXMOO.

It isn't Leitz.. Could be a Contax or Kiev..or maybe Nikon off brand..

I used to have one like that, as I remember.

I believe it fits the Canon bottom-loading rangefinders, before the Model V.

At first, I thought this was Zeiss Ikon, but it's not.

The Nikon cassette is based on the Zeiss Ikon cassette, so this is either Nikon or a third-party cassette for the Nikon.

I no longer have a Nikon S or the film cassette, so I can't say for sure.

I had a Leica film cassette, and it was much longer than the one pictured here.

Zeiss Ikon cassettes have a notch in the the serrated top ring opposite the two buttons, a small indent in the protruding arm and another notch in the end of the outer barrel. And the location of the protruding arm relative to the opening is different.

It does look a bit like a Canon cassette - or early Zeiss. The two round "dots" on the top looks like Nikon - but they are in the wrong place. There are plenty of these rather strange cassettes out there - I only keep the IXMOO and the Nikon Rf ones. Experience taught me that "trying" one of these out can result in a jammed base-plate!!!!

Thanks for the responses. I bought them some 20 years ago from Helix camera in Chicago (which just went out of business about a week ago),just for curiosity, with the intent of finding a camera to put them in.

If you google and switch to images there are a few of both canon and Zeiss to compare to. None are particularly clear but to my eye the shape of the shoulder and the top are Canon.

I thought Tom may have a KASAM a type 1A cassette for Leica standard, it precedes the FILCA

That is a FED-2 cassette, methinks.

The Nikon and Contax cassettes only have a smaller 'block' on the edge of the cassette, the FED-2 actually has a larger block on the outside that fits into a large slot inside the body and makes sure the cassette does not rotate when opened by the bottom plate slot.

After closer look at Chrislivsey canon pic and searching google, I am sure it is a seiki canon film cartridge. I never would have guess to do a search on canon. I was focusing my search on Leica and Nikon. Thanks all!

I have had the KASAM's - but when I use the Leica Standard's or the Leica II's - I prefer standard re-loadables. The KASAM's are prone to seizing up - and after 80 years - who isen't!

The FED-2 has straight "shoulders" not curved off so I eliminated it 🙂

So Tom I presume an IXMOO will fit the standard then ? The IXMOO being that rare accessory that is retro compatible 😱
