What all auto film camera to buy?

Hello all.

Help me, please.
Well, not so bad as it sounds like.
Here is the situation, I LOVE my Rolleicord a lot, same with my IIf.
But, what I have learned is that, nobody are able to take a photo of me/the family together.
They do not understand how to take the shot, turning on the focusing and so one......Ahh....
Hmmm..
So, I am seeking a auto film camera, that at the same time can be used fully manual as well.
What I am looking for?
Small, compact, easy to use for others who are used to digital only on full auto.

I did look at the Contax T and the T2, but no auto.....
How about the Contax G1?
Can be had for a ok price, great lenses and all in all a great camera.

All help/tip is welcome.

I'd vote for the G series.

Might be worth looking into the F100 as well. I'm no nikon expert though..

Every time I look at old optical prints and scans of color negatives taken with Canon Rebel, I'm realizing how much I'm misspending with Leica film gear... In terms of film photography 🙂
It is small, light body, Auto, TV, AV, M, Manual ISO and I think it will work with resent AF Canon 50 1.8 and small 40 pancake.
The smaller you'll go from it to chaise Auto and M, the more issues and more to pay for you'll get.

Any working 5$ film P&S loaded with ISO100 BW film and with glass lens, two distances AF will do great.
And it is not as fun as it might seems to try to set parameters of small electronic camera in manual modes.

Visit a few Goodwill/Salvation Army/thrift stores. They usually have several point and shoot film cameras in stock. Usually around $5.

I'm thinking along the same lines as Frank. Get a small point-and-shoot film camera to hand to others while you use one of your accustomed cameras.

The Nikon N90s /F90x has a decent user interface for manual operation in addition to its autofocus mode. The Nikons also have the advantage that they can use the earlier AI and AIs lenses as well as the autofocus lenses.

What do you mean by "no auto" in T2?

A Nikon F80 with the AF50/1.8D would be a good combination, and an AF28-85/3.5-5.6D for those that at least know how to push-pull a zoom.

More classic than the Olympus Stylus Epic, but maybe not "better" for what I am seeking.

I use Olympus Stylus Epic for such ocassions. Fair enough IQ and everyone can use it.

I actually love my T2. I had many P&S, sold it all, only kept T2 and Olymplus Mju II... I find T2 gives better IQ, but I love Oly for it's size and some other features (which are not really auto - e.r. spot metering ability).

Well, some 55, 60 or more years ago, the answer would have been: hand them a Box camera, and Bob's your uncle 😀

Minilux... expensive solution, and also a bit risky. I support the easy film P&S. Minolta and Nikon offered some exceedingly good cameras some 10 years ago, and if you find one of them in good condition, you're more than done.

I had your problem too until I learned to pre focus the shot myself, then hand the camera off to someone and get back in the shot. Failing that, put it on a tripod w/ a cable release.

Olympus Stylus Epic or 'Mju ii' second hand, they take surprisingly nice pictures and anyone can use one fairly easily.

If picture quality is still important, then Konica Hexar AF would be good.

Another vote for Olympus µ [mju:] II, no manual mode but you won't regret it.
