This is a long shot, but I'm wondering what the brain trust on this forum is thinking.
I have all but decided on a Nikon Z over all other mirrorless systems, but there's one sticking point: I'd love to use my Contax G lenses on it without hacking them up first. Do you think there's even a slim chance that an adapter might be on the way?

Why not? Our chinese friends are jsually pretty fast at machining adapters. The G adapter is a bit complicated but hey,, nothing's impossible.

Nikon Z is going to be a very popular mount, so I would guess a Contax G to Z adapter is pretty much inevitable. A Techart AF version isn’t even out of the question, as they already make one for Sony E mount, but mf adapters are almost a certainty. Eventually.

You should just contact Novoflex in Germany and ask them. They deliver excellent quality, and already offer more than 100 (!) different adapters for almost all different lens/mount combinations, even rare ones.
And they also have already several adapters for the Z mount.

This is all good enough for me!
Don't need the adapter immediately, just want to make sure that I can still use my G lenses when the G2 goes up to the great repair shop in the sky.

I have wondered on this also. How would the focus work?

I'm using a Haoge C/Y adapter on my Z6 with both my 28/2.8 Distagon and 50/1.7 Planar (both focus to infinity) and very happy with it, $50 from Amaz. and snug fit on both ends. Maybe contact the company and ask if they have one in the works(?)

Should be possible already. E.g metabones G/E-Mount, then techart E/Z.
Should be several, as a matter of course.
Wouldn't be surprised to see a native G to Z from Techart. The Techart G for Sony E works great, I had one for a while.

I would love that--the adapter you mention is the only reason I even considered a sony mirrorless.

I just saw a manual focussing Contax G to Nikon Z adapter on the Fotodiox website. I have the 28 and 45 G lenses. interesting!

The Fotodiox adapter is well made and has good focus feel.
Worked great for me with the 45 but I had infinity focus issues on the 21 & 28, even more after adding a PCX lens on the WA´s.
Another alternative is a Kipon CG-NZ adapter or a cheaper clone called the Fotofox CG-NZ adapter that is pretty decent for the price and compact as well but most importantly gives infinity focus even with the PCX(shim removal needed). Do let me know if you need further input.
