While carrying the C330, I was aprouched a few time with "What the **** is that?!?"
"What do you mean your camera can't zoom?"
"You don't mind taking pictures for [enter family event], do you?"
Had some guy ask me about my R3A once, strange questions about interchangeable straps, if it came with red stripes or if it took "weird" colored lenses (I'm assuming he was thinking filters). I saw he was using an F3... I asked him what film he was using to which he replied, "Ohh this? Doesnt even work, I just wear it 'cause it looks cool."

A friend when she saw me using the little Sekonic L-208: "what's that little gadget you just used?" I said, "I use it to measure light for my camera", she starts laughing and says, "oh you have to use that little thing to set your camera? I have a camera that does it for me." Good for her....
The same friend: "My camera has autofocus, and I can see the photo right after I take it."

Well there you go. Tell him that he MUST coordinate the strap with his shoes or shirt. Recommend orange filters.

From non-photographers:
"Don't you have any color photos???"
"I have a [insert name of any P&S digital here] and it has a really nice zoom!"
From photographers:
"The Decisive Moment"
(Cartier-Bresson is probably my all time favorite, but I have grown tired of hearing this phrase used and abused over and over and over and over and over again....)

Good one! That goes hand in hand with complete bafflement about why one would choose to shoot in black and white.

A friend entered the room when I was changing a lens on my GF1 and when he saw the lens detached from the body he literally yelled, "you broke your camera?"

It's an old camera that does not have a screen and then to explain what film is :bang:
