What are you selling and why?

First of all. You're not kidding yourself. More photographic power to you.

Personally, I'm wanting to sell my Canon EOS 5D Mark II, though I'm currently overseas and all my boxes are back in the United States. Why? I could try to use an AF camera like an MF camera but things like a useless distance scale on the lenses makes the effort useless. Rather sell it and upgrade to a Canon EOS 5D Mark III so I can set so many parameters so that I can stop fiddling with menu options and buttons, and concentrate on shooting, creating. Oh, and that quiet mode...
 
Hello RFF friends!
I am trying to sell my film Canon EOS 30 slr kit (EF 28-105 USMII + EF 75-300 IS USM even the bags) in order to fund a 35mm C-Biogon for my ZI that I have purchased from a RFF member.
I am catching my self abandoning the slr gun style and playing more with simpler machines as scale focus old cameras. At this time I am using an Olympus trip 35...
 
Currently selling, or trying to sell my Ansco 5x7 view camera and a RZ67 kit. No luck or takers so far.

I'm selling it not by choice, but I need the money to move to another state fro a job.

The digression into the Foveon discussion is germane. I have not come across such a disruptive new technology in photography in a long time - probably not since the arrival of digital. When I compare a DP2M image with another digital camera it is a matter of taste. When I compare a DP2M image with a film scan it is a matter of distress. The foveon image has excellent dynamic range, wonderful micro contrast and incredible resolution. As long as there is no shake or blur you can crop down to 100%. I rarely see any of the digital smear that I associate with all digital cameras and which I accept does make digital inferior when compared to film grain.

IMHO, multilayer sensor technology is the future. There is a rumour that Sony is working on their own implementation of the foveon sensor concept. They need to. If Sigma ever improve the high iso capability and the rapidity of saving images then Sony will be in trouble.

Bill, thank you for your kind words about my work. The winter in the UK this year was long and cold - not quite as bad as Minnesota, I suspect but so cold that I wore that headgear most of the winter!

Note the use of the SWC in the frame!

Hey js, I wanted to apologize for my bad attitude and spiteful comments. I got tired of the constant party line of "oh just shoot digital" that I had seen in 2 threads concurrently from you and let it get to me.

I see a lot of people who think digital is the answer - they get something or another and then their work is never the same. It ends up lacking something and self-editing more often than not takes a noticeable hit. Of course it doesn't have to happen but that side of the box does end up being opened more often than not. I think it's not a coincidence that a random sample of 20 film photographers and a random sample of 20 digital photographers results in generally more restrained editing and interesting things to look at on the film side. It's not just about the content always - process does have something to do with it. Limitations and discipline are good.
 
Im selling my Leica to raise a little bit to move.

trying to be patient tho, I generally don't like waiting and I havent even gotten any nibbles.

Trying to sell a bunch of stuff in the classifieds...without much interest. I bought too much stuff that I don't think I will use...and more importantly now I need the money.
 
The classifieds can take a while depending on how you price something and how popular the item is. Sometimes if you want it to move you just have to drop the price and take the hit.

Sold my Sigma 35mm 1.4 in Nikon mount to someone through Craigslist tonight. Got to love that quick cash! Only lens left to sell is a 28-200 G Nikkor which, looking at eBay, has bizarrely held its value over the years.

Then I'll just have my 3 kits left - M4 for daily use, F2 for wides and teles, and Mamiya 7 for MF.
 
I had just sold mu second Oly 35RC. It is a part of my treatment of my GAS syndrome, selling all duplicates (and make room for new ones 🙂 )
 
I just sold my FL-50R flash. The last remaining item of my extensive Oly set (3 bodies and 12 lenses) which I sold, feeling betrayed by that company when it stated that it would not invest in classic FT gear anymore. That was a pity since, although the sensor was so-so (good up-to ISO 800) the lenses are excellent.
Now I am back to just 2 camera's, a X100s and a X-Pro1 with the 14-18-35-60 and the 18/55, all 2nd hand. I applaud Fuji for their customer loyalty, (I am downloading their new X-pro1 firmware this very moment) what a difference with Olympus. Will probably buy the 23 and 56mm primes and then I am done for a while.
 
I am selling nothing. Stressing with Gear Rationalization syndRome or GRR is stopping me from being creative.
 
I'm ready to part with my Leica outfit, simply because I haven't "used it in anger" for two or three years. If it does go, I'll retain my Bessa L kit (15, 25 and 35) because it provides me with a lightweight wide angle kit, which I do use, currently.

I'm also considering whether I should trim my Hasselblad outfit and some digital as well.

Everything was bought second hand and cheap, so it's more about de-cluttering my home and head. Of course, the money will be very welcome as well!
 
In the next year or so I'll probably be selling my 2 Canon 5DIIs, 24L, 35L 85L and 200 2L. Making a switch completely over to Leica M if everything continues as planned.

I just really prefer rangefinders and I really like Leica glass.
 
I am planning on selling one of my two Xpans. One is missing a diopter, so waiting to buy an inexpensive replacement before selling it.

Also planning on selling a Nikon FM2n, as it doesn't get used much - mainly as the only lens I have that works with it is a 300mm. I have a few frames left on the slide film loaded in it and need to replace the winder (have the part), before parting with it.

I was considering selling my M8, but have reconsidered as I have been using it regularly as my colour travel camera (especially now that it is working flawlessly with a new battery and change of SD-Card).
