If you had to make up a list, what would it look like?

Here is mine:

1. Yashica Electro 35 GS
2. Minolta Hi-Matic E
3. Olympus Zuiko 35RC

4. Minolta Hi-Matic F
5. AGFA Super Silette Automatic
6. Ricoh 500RF
7. Agfa Super Silette 2 (but only because the shutter is slow from 1/15 on)

No. 4 to 7 are very close together. Hard to put them into a ranking.

And I am soon getting a Rollei XF 35. I wonder where on the list this cam will end up...

Olympus 35RC, Minolta HiMatic 7Sii. I just got the latter as a gift from Mr. Sbug. The lens produces remarkably sharp images. For a 40mm fixed lens camera, being optimized for sharpness is probably a good way to go, but it's different from my other Rokkors.

Well, I only have 2 - Olympus XA and Konica Auto S, if you dont count folders.
While XA is a great little camera, I really like Konica:

Olympus XA and Canonet Q17 GIII, without a doubt.

The Konica Auto S2 is a wonderful camera w/ a fabulous lens, but seems much less use than the other two b/c of its larger size.

I agree with you about the size. Some of those 1960s rangefinders were massive. Much too big for what they were.

Then in the 1970s, they went in the opposite direction.

And in the 1980s, they were no longer made, for the most part.

Yes, there are many excellent fixed lens RF cameras.

I like these among those that I use:

1. Konica II, Konica III, and Konica IIIM
2. Minox GT
3. Konica S2 and S3
4. Olympus XA

The lenses are superb in the Konica cameras.

1) Minolta Hi-matic 9, with Rokkor 45 mm f/1.7 (united with my SLR SRT-101)
2) Voigtlaender Vitomatic III CS, with Ultron 45 mm f/2.0
3) Petri 7S, with 45 mm f/1.8 (auxilliary viewfinder missing...)

The Zeiss Ikons and Voigtlanders are my favorites
I specially favor the contessas (folding and non-folding) and the Vitos

Never had a canonet though

Olympus 35 SP
Canonet G-III QL17
Yashica Electro 35 GSN
Yashica Lynx 14E
Olympus XA
Voigtländer Vitomatic IIa

(random order)

Adding to my list, I would include ...

  • Kodak Retina IIa
  • Kodak Retina II
  • Foca Sport II

I'm sure there are others. I'd have to check the cabinet. Good that you kept it to fixed-lens rangefinders. It makes you think a bit harder.

In my case it would be the Canonet QL17 III, the Olympus 35 SP, and the Petri Computer 35. Each has its purpose and reason for use, so the order I listed them in isn't really an order of preference.

In no particular order: Canonet QL 17 III,Kodak Retina IIC,Ansco Super Regent.Love to use them, they all get their turns..................Robin

First series of Focasport, I presume, I tried one a while back and found the r/f superb, nice long base length. I am trying to find a good one with help from a friend in France who goes to the camera fairs. I have two Foca Standards and they are lovely cameras.;)
