I have just put a GSN into service that has been unused for at least 10 years, every things seems to be working just fine, including amazingly, the batteries. the green battery test light burns brightly. I looked in the battery compartment and found 4 E640s. because of there age I assume that they will die sooner rather than later, I know that the original PX 32 is discontinued, they are available from an ebayer in italy but they must be at least 10 years old, the E640 is also discontinued but there is a direct replacement the A640 and there are some other 6v batteries that fit with an adaptor, so what do you guys find to be the best??:bang:

I suggest 4 SR44's (~eur1 each) or 4SR44 if you can get it for cheap (don't bother with those eur8 and more).

Lithium and alkaline cells are good...when used appropriately, in cameras designed for them, I mean.

Another choice is to get a PX-28 6 volt alkaline at your local Radio Shack (They run about $4.99USD) or other electronics store and use one of the battery adapters that are found on ebay. .

(or that, by some strange coincidence, I have available on my web site... :D)
