What camera did you own before?

Cool thread.

I got into photography about 30 years ago. Rather than list all of the cameras I have owned, I will list the ones that made an impact:

Rollei 35S *
Nikon F2
Zeiss Super Ikonta B
Nikon 28ti
Plaubel Makina 67
Leica Digilux 2 *
Leica IIIc *
Leica M2 *

* = still own and operate.

Of the ones that are gone, the only one I really miss is the Plaubel Makina 67.

I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that I might incriminate myself and more importantly, my wife might see it. 😱

However, it may contain just a few Pentax's. 😉

- Agfamatic 4000 (when I was 5 or 6 years old)
- Porst Reflex C-TL (the very one my father used for taking all the photos of me as a baby)
- Canon A1 (not really mine, but permanently borrowed from my father for some years)
- Canon EOS 50e (my first brand new one from the shop)
- Canon EOS 3
- Voigtländer Bessa R2M (saw it while searching for something new, since photography with the SLR started to bore me. Also carying that EOS 3 with the 28-70L was just too bulky.)
- Leica M6 TTL
- Voigtländer Bessa T
- Leica M2

Plus some old Agfa Click and Clack, an old Kodak box, a novelty camera shaped as a pill and some old Praktika body - not to forget that Olympus Trip 35 and my one and only digital camera, the Olympus C4040.

I am in difficulty keeping a log of all cameras I have (with their SN) as well as the lenses I have.. I will do the same for those I had after my retire. Also I rebought some of those I had because I could not stand the nostalgia. So here are two that I have had and I also have now:
Nikin F black pentaprism
Minolta CLE

Cameras I've owned and passed on:

Minolta x700
Nikon D70
Leica r6.2
Leicaflex SL2
Leicaflex SL Mot
Leica M6 "classic"
Leica M6 ttl
Leica MP (black)

Currently, trying to find a better home for an M7.

As a matter of interest, if you don't like those what do you like? Or have you gone to the dark side?

Let me see how many I can remember:

I have some other odds and ends of cameras, like cheap folders or "toy" 6x6 or 4x4. Some day maybe I will catalog all them and decide what to keep and what to sell. Most of what I have works, but some are non working or non usable due to the film format.

I really need to do something about all those cameras. I look at my list and I am just amazed that I have all that. I can't use all those. Some I would like to but just can't get around to.

[BIG edit]

Well, I listed my cameras in roughly in the order acquired. sick. just sick. Then I deleted the list. Too embarrassing, really. Actually I still have most of the cameras I purchased although the Pentax LX has come and gone twice. the Mamiya 7 and I just never got along. Said goodbye to the Deardorff, the Raja 8x10, the Mamiya C330. I have held onto the M3, the F4s and the Pentax 6x7 the longest (going on 20 years).

These days my favorites: 35mm: Nikon/Leica; 6x6: Hassie; 6x7: Pentax; 4x5: Shen Hao; 5x7: Wisner; 8x10: Zone VI; digital: D3/M8/E-P2, depending on how much weight I feel like lugging around (and subject matter). I will say in my own defense that I purchased many of the high-end medium format cameras on the list after their prices had sunk to fire-sale levels. These days, why not try an RB67, if you've always been intrigued by the beast?

[Edit: on the big list I forgot the Bessa T's, the extra Nikkormat, the Olympus Pen, the Zeiss Ikonta B, the Kodak Retinas, the Rolleis. . .hopeless exercise]

Phew !!! Has it been that many? Started 33 years back though, still got many of these too.

Mmmmmh...let's see. There was a
Halina Roy (127 rol)
Pentax P30
Pentax P50
Nikon F3 (two of them)
Nikon D70s
Nikon D300
Leica D-lux4
Leica M4p (...and there's no cure...)

And last but not least; a Fuji GW760-III on the way from the US, but since last Tuesday in holding at Dutch customs.

At one point I had over 300 cameras in a collection, though many were just look-prettys. Most have been sold off.

Here's a list of only those that I used, in approximate order, for regular picture taking (not just running a roll thru a new collector's piece). Most of the time I had 2-4 shooters. The list includes casual use snapshot cameras (aka P&S):

Kodak Vigalante 620 (My dad's; he dropped it at one point and later when I was in the 6th grade I fixed the shutter and began using it again)
Kodak Vest Pocket Autographic (127)
Tower 35 (I forget the exact model designation, made by Iloca)
(return of the Vigalante 620 to service and use)
Steky 16
Minolta-16II
Miranda G
Bell & Howel Dial 35II
Nikon F2 Photomic
Nikon F
Nikon S-2
Mamyia C33
Ikeda 4x5 field w/ Nikkor 180mm f/5.6 and 90mm Angulon
Nikon F3
Leica IIIa
Canon QL-17 GIII
Nikon SP
Leica IIIg
Leica M3
Nikon Nice Touch P&S
Nikon Coolpix 950
Nikon Coolpix 8400
Panasonic G1

If you count the pool cameras I used in school then I would need to add these at about the same point in the list as the Miranda:

Pentax H1a
Kodak Retina Reflex III
Rolleiflex T
Crown Graphic 4x5

If I were to count every model that I shot at least one roll through, either from my collection or from samples I had access to when I managed camera stores the list would number well over 100 models.

The list begins in about 1954-5 when I was 3-4 years old (Dad was of course helping me quite a bit at that time), though I didn't shoot much until I was around 8 and was using the Tower with a Leica Meter (made by Metrophot and was designed for use with Barnacks not M's) to shoot my first Kodachromes in 1959.

Started in 1990 with my first own "real" camera, a Ricoh KR-10x.
(I had a Kodak Disc before but that was no "real" camera. 😉)
Then I got a Kodak APS cam in about 1994.
Then I bought ma first digital cam in 2000: Kodak DC 240i, then in 2002 a Minolta DiMage 7 and that cam started it all over again!

Next was a Panasonic Lumix FZ20 and then it kind exploded:
Maaaaaany digital and film cams followed. Too many to put up a list here, I'm afraid.
