As I sit here exercising my leica, (M2 & III), before reloading them a thought suddenly occurred to me, 'they do sound so sweet'. Which camera that you own do you think has the sweetest sound, for me it has to be my M2

Of the cameras I use that make a sound, the Nikon F2 makes the sweetest shutter sound.

However, I prefer silent cameras and my Canon G15 is my camera that makes the least amount of noise.

In the summer of 2015 I got my M4, and when I tried the shutter it was lyrically quiet... so much that I thought something was wrong with it. I loaded it with film and went on a walk, trying different EVs. I developed and scanned the film and everything was fine. I compared it to other M bodies and there was no match. Now I am convinced that shutter sound is particular and individual to each camera.

BTW, my other M bodies sounded rather coarse in comparison.

My .72 M7. Such an understated cluck. The .58 M7 is much more of a click, hollower sounding.

Perhaps the Voightlander 667W, tho I can't hear it. Seriously I can't hear it 90% of the time. Thankfully I can feel it in my hand.

My pinhole has a really, really quiet shutter. Ha!

Agree with the sound from a Rolleiflex but my Mamiya TLR sounds nice with any of the lenses.

Another Kardashian moment here at RFF.
There are any number of serious reasons to purchase a camera body.
The sound of the shutter isn't one of them.
I own 10 different camera models and don't give the sound of the shutter even a moment's thought.
Perhaps we should start a thread about which camera has the prettiest ISO setter or the nicest typeface on it's shutter speed dial.
