what camera is this (nsfw)

A really well composed picture, with the mirror and all. The presence of the camera reminds us that us that it's all about photography. I'll bet though you used the "what camera" question as a ruse though ;) , in order to show off your excellent picture. (Thank you for that.)

'Cause the name of the camera, "universal", is written on it, right under the viewfinder window.

This one is holding a Polaroid and the tattoos are impressive too . . . just used it as a prop although the camera probably still works. In the age of digitals, Polaroids have taken a back seat.

I can't see the far side (the mirror only shows a mirror image of the near side), so I can't make out which way that goes. The near side does bump forward, like the Mamiya holders do, and by the right amount (not past the flash bracket) too.

You can see how the far side, held with the left hand, "bumps" forward by looking at the bottom of the camera and back. The mirrored portion only shows the end of the back.

Here are two pix. One of the early Polaroid back that is on the camera in the OP's pic. it clearly "bumps" forward on both sides. The other shows a mounted Mamiya style roll hold which clearly "bumps" to the rear to clear the darkslide.
