What camera was he using?

From today's (May 17, 2011) Globe and Mail, there is the following photo:

The caption says: "U.S. director Gus Van Sant takes a picture during the photocall of "Restless" presented in the Un Certain Regard selection at the 64th Cannes Film Festival"

It is quite amusing to look at his RF camera in a sea of big zooms. But what camera was he using?

Doesn't look like a Leica---no red dot. But in my eyes, it was a RF. The resolution of the picture (even on the larger paper version) is not good enough to show the wordings on the lens.

Any ideas?

Looks like it could possibly be an MP or M7. If you look really close you can see the film advance lever sticking out.

Saw the same photo and wondered about that too. Looked like a Leica MP Black Paint. No red dot, knob wind. A real contrast to those big zooms.

I admit I saved the picture and zoomed in all the way to scrutinize the blurry pixels before I saw that lever sticking out. (working late makes you do wacky things)

MP, MP serial numbering, standard MP covering and a very scuffed and banged up hood on a 35 Summilux. .72 finder I think, hard to read the lettering
