I bought my last car by visiting a few 2nd hand dealers taking a sports (fencing) bag with me. The bag had to fit in the car. It was surprisising how many cars failed the test. The car I ended up with had it' s rear window broken once when some unpleasant people went for the camera-bag with an M6 and some nice glass in it. Surprisingly, they threw the bag & contents back in the woods, Maybe they didn't like analogue cameras. Via this link, you can read more about it, in Dutch. The car is a yellowish Citroen, by the way.

Kudos above on the daily driver '28 ford. Driving anything pre-1950 everyday takes dedication...or at least imagination 😉

I have been a car nut longer than a camera nut/photographer (they're separate), but I'm also on a budget. Both my cars are daily rides:

1996 Ford Escort LX Wagon (with 88hp 1.9L I-4). This car has just about 100,000 miles on it and it runs like brand new. Needs a stereo. This is what I use in the winter or if I have lots of things and people to carry. It's a He.

My other, more dear ride I bought six years ago, used: It's an Electric Green 2000 Ford Mustang Convertible. Six-cylinder, 5-speed manual transmission, dual exhaust, sequential turn signals, and gold side stripes and rear lettering. She's my baby. I have 195,xxx on the odometer right now.
 
'It' is a 1995 Land Rover Discovery (collective s******ing from Series owners: "that's not a proper Land Rover..."). It has no gender but is a fine machine. 230,000 miles and getting a bit tatty round the edges. Road salt - whoever thought that was a good idea?

Nah, I've had three of the car it was based on, so Disco's are OK in my book. Road salt is eating up my 109. The new blend they use here is 150 times more corrosive than the old stuff, its a battle I can't win. Poor girl.
 
Well the moment I'm driving mine around in the pinnacle of style, the very essence of speed and acceleration, the finest of all craftmanship, the engineering prowess of a world beater, the bodywork of a god -- a 1994 Peugeot 106 1.4 Diesel in not so immaculate condition with a top speed of a few miles an hour and a breathtaking 0 to 60 in 5 years, 2 weeks, 6 days (although this acceleration does require a continuous downhill run.) With its advanced features such as non-working radio-cassette, a cigarette lighter blanking place, analogue non-quartz controlled clock and heater it's a real statement and an half.

I've also got the optional extra of a slightly dodgy head gasket which is quite sought after.

It does however do between 70-80mpg.

All in all. What a car 😉

That makes sense as I will always remember my dad trying to get the Skoda to go before leaving for the car auctions, "Damn b*tch won't start as usual" or something.

All these years I thought it was clear cut down the line plain and simple abuse, but now I know there was a little love there after all 😀
 
2011 Subaru Imprezza WRX. This model is the first of with auto transmission which reflects my advancing years. A scooter is what my normal mode of transport is when I am on a photo mission.
 
I don't have a car... or truck or motorcycle or any motor vehicle ...

although I have owned all of the above at various times including a '64 Studebaker and '46 Chevy Pickup. The bike was fun as well... all in the past. I remember paying USD 2,400 for a brand new Chevy Blazer in '72... times have changed.

Now it's the train and metro...

I drive a car with no pistons. Instead it has two spinning triangles inside a cocoon-shaped trochoid housing. It's engine has only 3 moving parts. I think that makes it an exotic.
