I had my GSN worked on by International Camera in downtown Chicago. The viewfinder is soo much clearer, and the rangefinder seems orders of magnitude easier to spot and use.
However the shutter is now acting weird. Before on long exposures the shutter would stay open until the rewind lever was cranked. Now it will stay open until I take my finger off of the shutter button. Some of the time it will close after what seems to be the right time. Even weirder, the flash sync mode acts as a bulb mode. Remove the battery, and the flash sync mode works as it should.

Doesn't sound normal to me. Sounds like some wires got crossed, at the very least. I'd take it back.

Yeah... send it back. I think these repair shops see 100 SLRs to every rangefinder they receive, what rangefinders they do receive are most likey Leica or leica-like interchangeable lens focal plane shutter types... Making matters worse, the electronic aperture-priority Electros are real oddballs even among fixed lens rangefinders. Best bet is to give Greyhoundman a shout or Mark Hama.
Hope they can fix your camera. Keep us posted.

What do you mean by "long exposures"? Long on Bulb or long but still automatic?
The rewind lever action was not ok neither.
The BULB should work as you describe - shutter open until you take your finger off the button.
If the shutter acts erratically in consistent situations, i expect the Pad to be dead.

In auto mode, the shutter will act as if it's a bulb shutter with longer shutter speeds. The bulb mode seems to work fine, although a few times the shutter will stay open until the rewind lever is cranked.

ok. This indicates problems with the pad, but it could be related to some electronic problem too. I can't say more without seeing it myself.
I would take it back to the repair guys.

One of the unique aspects of the Yashica Electro RF's is the long shutter capability. Put it a tripod of course.
Set it to auto, focus it, set the self timer and shoot. In low light, it can give an exposure up to 30 seconds. (Not on bulb setting ) I would say........Send it back!

um...weird, I just looked at my gsn and it the bulb works just like a normal bulb, push open release close.
Anyone else notice in bulb you can push the shutter button all the way down then engage the shutter lock to make it a T shutter?
