My GF and I have an agreement for buying camera. I buy a camera, I buy her a flower. If I ever buy a digital M, she'll be receiving one heck of rose bouquet.

SWMBO has no interest in cameras. But my first M8 was a present from her
:angel:After that we have a system. I pretend to have one cheap camera and she pretends not to notice the cupboard full of Leica gear

My wife asked if there was a digital Leica yet, when she noticed that I wasn't using my M2 nearly as much as I used to. Then, after reading about the new M9, she said something like, "You should get a D700."

when she saw it - she was first to unpack it in my absense - and saw it was mint, she liked it (of course she nows I never buy new, and never asks about prices: because I do not ask her prices for footware, bags, and other women stuff! ......but she knows the value of Leicas pretty well.....

I was lucky an my Black M9 looks just like the black M8! Ha just kidding. She has little to say about it with what she just purchased to drive

Well, in any case, I had to design a diamond bracelet and ring for her...
Turned out rather nicely - eclipsed the Leica a bit...

I just took delivery of Mamiya 7 at office. When I got IIIf, she couldn't tell if I had it before. She thought that was my M2.
For her, it's pretty much silver camera or black camera. Or with big lens or small lens.
This time, there is no escape. Even five years old can tell Mamiya 7 is a different camera from my Ms or Hassy. I'll be picking up a nice bouquet for her at farmers market this sunday.

I usually don’t inform my wife on any of my camera purchases. Eventually she notices new camera, but no comments. Her attitude in life is : if its going to make you happy go for it, don’t even ask.
Mind it, I did sell all my Canon gear to get M9 and some lenses and that was noticed.

Fortunate to have a wife who is extremely supportive of my photography. She's actually the one that encouraged me to buy my first digital camera - Epson R-D1 - back in 2006.

I must make a thread for single people on this topic.. "what did you think when you bought your M9 and got behind on the mortgage?" The mortgage was boring, this gets me some fine ass

Luckily I had just called off an engagement before graduating from college this past may, so in April I jumped online and ordered an M8 from ebay and a VC 35 f1.2 from cameraquest. However, had we not called of the engagement, I would not have an M8, that is a fact. My current girlfriend, a photographer as well, would encourage it.
I put myself through three college degrees by working and living at home, and so had amassed a good amount in savings for a fresh college graduate, so I treated myself nicely, and only put a small dent in my savings because my parents generously gave me a $1,500 dollar graduation present since I paid for my own schooling, they said it was the least they could do.

I bought an Omega watch once and when the wife realized what I paid for a watch she went ballistic. I told her I'd return it if she sold her diamond rings. End of argument.
The moral is don't buy an M9 unless you can afford a diamond ring also.
I bet Drabbit would agree.
