Hi,
Just wondering what all you RFF'ers are driving. I am currently driving a 1983 Mercedes 300d and will be getting new to me 1994 Honda Civic Vx Hatchback because of how many miles per gallon it gets 50+ on the highway on the low 40's in town. These are rare and hard to find...honda wants no one to know about these because they want you to spend your money on a harmful hybrid...what are they going to do with the batteries when the car no longer runs? these are great short term fixes but hybrids are not the answer....in California rescue teams wont get within a certain amount of feet from a hybrid because of the electrical shock that can be delivered....

A 2000 Nissan Frontier 4X2 (didn't have the $ to buy the 4X4 at the time - wish I did as it drives me nuts when there's snow!)... wife drives a 2005 Honda Pilot.
I remember the Honda Vx's.... took forever to run out of gas!

1998 Plymouth Neon
145,000 miles and the A/C just went out. (Don't worry, it's a dry heat.)
It's worth something less than the R3A/Nokton 40mm combo it transports.

I wish I still had this one...

2002 Hyundai 4DR Elantra. Interesting comments on the hybrids. I also think you would not save enough in fuel costs to pay the difference between the cost of a gas model and its hybrid version.

I really have no brains, so I always get the same thing. Always. My wife has a 2000 Saab 9-3 and I have a 2007 Saab 9-3. If I had any brains I would give her my car, sell the 2000 Saab, get a bike and buy an M8 with the left over money. but then I would have nothing to bitch about.

1971 Italvega bicycle with Columbus steel tubing and beautiful chromed lugs converted to a fixed gear. Vintage 80's Selle Italia Turbo saddle, Sugino Mighty cranks, Velocity aero rims laced to Suzue Pro Max loose bearing hubs.

I drive a 2001 TD4 ES Landrover Freelander with 193,000 miles on the clock. I hope I have it for many more miles yet.

Red Subaru Legacy GT XT Wagon with a Turbocharged Engine -- fastest car I have ever owned.

Plus a White 2007 Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 motorcycle-- a blast to ride..

Very nice - I'd quite like a DS23EFI, black with green tinted windows.

Current sensible family car is a 2005 Subaru Outback.

The others in the stable are an '82 Citroen Dyane:

Regardless of how expensive petrol gets, I think I can always afford to fill it! 25 litre tank, 602cc and TWO cylinders.

The next one is undergoing surgery, an '82 Renault Alpine A310 that I brought back from Holland:

As for hybrids - in their current form they are just an early step, like the early 640x480 digitals. They are certainly not green or environmentally friendly, except in very limited circumstances. They require quite a lot of expensive materials, and then we have the batteries to deal with, which are definitely not dolphin friendly. A small, efficient, particulate filtered diesel is far friendlier, and can run on a variety of fuels.

In fact, my Dyane is way more friendly when you take the end-to-end environmental footprint into account (from ore extraction to destruction).
