Hi,
i recently purchased this lens of a fellow RFF member. I'm waiting for it in the post, and really looking forward to this gorgeous little lens.

I was wondering what people thought of this lens, in your experience?

I'll hopefully be using it for some upcoming stories in Burma.

Cheers,
Henry

I owned the lens. I sold it because I prefer the 35mm focal length. However, I miss it sometimes due to these characteristics:

1. Very small lens, light, and compact
2. Extremely sharp corner to corner
3. Minimal distortion for a wide angle
4. Spectacular for wide angle landscapes, in fact my favorite now that i think about it.
5. Relatively cheap for a NEW Leica lens

Damn, why did I sell it!:bang:

It is a gem. Tiny and lightweight, with impeccable image quality.

M9 / 28/2.8 ASPH

Was my most used lens on the M8.2 for quite a long while.

i loved it until winter ,i got lots of color fringing in the corners on snow and bright scenes
it was a coded but otherwise a little gem

Fantastic little lens. Small, sharp, no distortion. I prefer it over 35mm for street photography due to the increased depth of field. It's also excellent for landscapes (in fact it is very easy to hike with due to its small size).

I think its one of the best bang for the buck new leica lens extremely sharp no distortion , having said I would much prefer an older version Summilux or Summicron then of a summarit or elmarit.

but then again this is 28mm

A great lens, It only has one minor drawback and one little fault:
it is VERY contrasty, so for B&W make sure you pull your negs if you like a long tonal scale, and then in some cases the bokeh is not fantastic, but this for a 28mm lens is a non issue.
