Totally vanity thread just about me.
I find myself thinking of changing my setup quite a bit these days, to maximize 'walking softly'-- carrying a small lens when possible-- and as much lens speed as possible. I like the (135format)50-equiv FL best but also like 40-equiv. I don't much like anything wider because my favourite photography is capturing individuals in action, and I find I have to be too close to get everything into a 35-equiv frame.
Current setup:
Ricoh GXR-M
35/2 Summicron ASPH-- used 100% of the time
CV 28/1.9- great, but unused since I got the Summicron
The Summicron ASPH is very sharp and certainly the right size, especially with the shade off, but I have a feeling that that sharpness is somewhat mitigated/wasted on the 1.3x GXR; to be honest, my 28/1.9 is pretty close. Probably would be a different story on a FF camera. I find I could use the extra speed indoors, even with the 35/2 being pretty fast on the GXR.
Proposal: sell both
Pick up: Perar 28/4 for outdoors (walking softly);
CV 35/1.2 for indoors (the big stick)
Around $700 in savings
Anyone done something similar to maximize speed and size and costs? What alternatives would you propose in this price range for a 1.3x user who prefers (135)50-equiv FL? I could probably reach the old Summilux 35/1.4 ASPH but affording that would be a stretch and I am dubious of how big the jump in quality would be... I'm all about bang-for-the-buck. Also am not a big fan of the CV 35/1.4 OOF areas. Thanks!
