The best camera is one that still works!
Number two is my favourite ... really interesting pic!
Tha last one has ... how can I say ... problems!
Maybe if you crop the noisy shadow area it won't dominate the image so much?

I agree with Keith, except for the last, I would darken down the shadow to black; I think it's the noise not the shadow that is the destraction. Andrew.

It’s #4 that’s my problem, I would normaly just junk it but I need four shots for that bit of a layout, and that’s all I have
It’s the best one of six taken from that position as I tried to bracket my way out of an impossible shot, the lens was just too slow
PS I’ve played with it so long now I’ve stopped “seeing” it if you know what I mean

Actually Andrew is right ... when you darken that image it doesn't lose much! I also ran it through my noise removal filter.

Yep the silhouette thing’s a lot better, I had got too close to it last night it was past my bedtime, there’s very little to sacrifice in the shadows anyway.
I’ll rescan and play with the buttons a bit, what noise reduction did you use Keith?

Just the noise recuction software in ACDSee Pro which lets you alter the radius with a sliding scale as well as the amount of actual reduction. It's all I use ... I've never been able to get my head around anything else!
[edit] ... by the way I know what you mean about getting too close to an image sometimes. Better to walk away and live another day!

Yes I’ll leave it for a while, and then have another go.
I don’t normally bother working with bad negs, but I need that pic to illustrate the opposite page's text, I’ve never been imprested with Photoshop’s noise reduction I’ll see what VueScan and iPhoto have to offer......... I don't need more software
thanks

I like the 2nd shot a lot! I think that no matter what you do with that 4th shot, you will missing detail on the woman's face in the center of the frame....and that is makes a central figure very faceless and uninterestingly vague. Too bad, though, as I love the composition and the light

How about cropping off the right hand side?
And a bit off the left to be rid of the light window.

Yes I agree Frank, that works, unfortunately I’m stuck with the 3:2 aspect ratio on that page. I was playing with it last night and it looks a awful lot better at 6x4 that 9x6, I may just do that.

Looks like a great place I'd like to visit. Where is it?
I think the layout works well.
One small criticism - p56 two "l's" in generally.

Didn't spot the additional IT. lol
So, the place looks as if it's in Greece or Cyprus. Share the secret, Spadge.
Cheers.

it's a small place on the North coast of Corfu, we rent nearby in the summer just inland a little. 25 years ago there were 2 families in 10 houses today it's a small resort
PS in the winter it drops back to 2 families and a sad looking village
